Our Story

Welcome to Covet, one of Vancouver Island’s favourite boutiques! Owner, Elizabeth John, first established the boutique in 2009 in the remote surf village of Tofino. Her mission was to curate a selection of west coast essentials including clothing, jewellery, locally handmade goods, and housewares. After four years in Tofino, Covet made the move to Qualicum Beach where it has quickly become a local favourite and draws savvy shoppers from all over the Island!

It only takes a quick glance around the boutique to see how Liz has drawn inspiration from her coastal surroundings, passion for animals (especially horses), and interest in sustainable and local brands. Covet has a growing reputation for their wide selection of rain boots from brands like Hunter, Aigle, Ilse Jacobsen and Wild Bird Society of Japan – perfect for those rainy west coast days! Staying true to the boutique’s Tofino origins, Covet stocks several made-in-Tofino brands like Lisa Fletcher Jewellery, Tofino Soap Co., and Market Canvas Leather bags. Giving back is something she values and that’s why the shop chooses to carry brands like Ten Tree, Toms and Matt and Nat so you can feel good about the products you are buying.

Did you notice the subtle equestrian theme sprinkled throughout the shop? The Covet logo should be your first clue – the design was inspired by Liz’s horses, Wraydar and Stanley. Your second clue should be the @covetinqualicum Instagram and Facebook feeds where the horses and her Rhodesians often make guest appearances in fun product photos. Lila ( pictured below) was even featured on the Pendleton website. When Liz isnt working, she can most likely be found in the barn , walking local trails or teaching her adorable grandchildren how to ride because that’s what “Glamma’s” are for, right?!.
